I Am Maximus Wins Grand National

Aintree witnessed a historic performance on Saturday as I Am Maximus surged to victory in the Grand National, reclaiming the title he first won in 2024.

The JP McManus-owned star delivered a clinical jumping display to pull clear in the final strides, cementing his status as one of the greatest steeplechasers of the modern era.

The win was also a personal milestone for trainer Willie Mullins, who equaled Vincent O'Brien's record of three successive victories in the world's most famous steeplechase.

While the race was celebrated for its sporting excellence, bookmakers reported significant losses, including one record-breaking £100,000 bet on the winner.
