Hantavirus evacuees head to Nebraska

A charter flight carrying 17 U.S. citizens from the MV Hondius cruise ship has arrived at Eppley Airfield in Omaha, where they will undergo rigorous health screening.

The evacuees are being transferred to the Nebraska Medical Center's National Quarantine Unit, the only federally funded facility of its kind in the country.

U.S. health officials confirmed that one passenger tested mildly positive for hantavirus during the journey, though they remain asymptomatic.

The group will be monitored for up to three weeks to ensure the Andes strain of the virus does not spread within the United States.
