Daring Rescue in Iran

President Trump hailed the recovery of the weapons systems officer as one of the most daring search and rescue operations in U.S. history.

The airman had survived for over 24 hours behind enemy lines, evading Iranian forces and local tribesmen while armed only with a handgun.

During the extraction, the U.S. military was forced to destroy its own grounded C-130 transport planes and Black Hawk helicopters to prevent technology from falling into enemy hands.

Iranian state media has portrayed the wreckage as a sign of their own military victory over the American mission.
