Nigeria oil output hits peak
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has announced a significant milestone in crude oil production, hitting its highest level in half a decade.
This recovery comes after years of struggling with pipeline vandalism and industrial-scale theft in the Niger Delta.
The boost in output is expected to provide a vital lifeline to the Nigerian economy, which has been battered by high inflation and currency volatility.
However, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has voiced skepticism, claiming that state-run refineries will never function effectively due to systemic corruption.
