Sweden orders French navy frigates

Sweden has signed a $4 billion deal to purchase four new navy frigates from France's Naval Group as part of a major rearmament effort.

The investment is one of the largest in Swedish history and is aimed at securing the Baltic Sea from Russian threats.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated that the vessels will modernize the Swedish fleet following the country's accession to NATO in 2024.

The deal also represents a significant blow to UK-based Babcock, which had been competing for the contract.
