Russell Wins Austrian GP, Trims Antonelli's Lead

George Russell held off Max Verstappen to win the Austrian Grand Prix from pole position, securing his first victory since the opening round of the season and breathing fresh life into his world championship bid.

The Mercedes driver crossed the line 1.6 seconds clear of the Red Bull driver, with teammate and championship leader Kimi Antonelli finishing third.

Russell's serene drive trimmed Antonelli's Formula One lead to 40 points and moved him ahead of Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton in the standings.

The victory ended Russell's 112-day winless streak and put pressure back on his teammate in the title battle.
