Aisha Wahab wins California House special election

Democratic state Sen. Aisha Wahab won the California special election to fill former Rep. Eric Swalwell's House seat, making history as the first Afghan American elected to Congress.

She defeated BART President Melissa Hernandez despite AIPAC's last-minute spending.

Wahab's victory was seen as a win for progressives, with AIPAC's spending spree failing to block her.

She will serve out the remainder of Swalwell's term.
