Iran, Oman discuss Hormuz shipping corridor

Iran confirmed it will hold talks with Oman within 60 days on managing shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, with Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabad stating the waterway "will remain closed" and Iran has "full control." The discussions come as oil prices extended declines on hopes of a framework to resume shipping.

China has thrown Tehran an economic lifeline as its biggest oil buyer, appearing in no rush to help Trump end the conflict.

Egypt also stressed the importance of implementing a US-Iran memorandum and de-escalation in separate diplomatic contacts.
