Deadly shooting at Teotihuacán pyramids
Terrified tourists were forced to flee for their lives when an armed man opened fire from the top of the Pyramid of the Moon.
The assailant, identified as a 27-year-old Mexican national, was reportedly carrying materials referencing U.S. mass shootings and Adolf Hitler.
Among the injured were six Americans, and the site has been closed indefinitely as security officials investigate the motive.
The tragedy has prompted calls from the Mexican government for tighter security at major archaeological sites ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
