U.S. airman rescued in Iran

U.S. airman rescued in Iran

A high-stakes search and rescue operation concluded early Sunday with the extraction of a second U.S. airman from deep within Iranian territory.

The officer, a colonel, had been hiding in a mountain crevice with only a pistol for protection after his fighter jet was downed on Friday.

President Trump hailed the mission as one of the most 'daring' in military history, involving dozens of aircraft and heavy firefights.

While the airman is reported to be safe and sound despite injuries, Iranian state media continues to claim they successfully foiled the American extraction efforts.
