Weinstein Rape Charge Dropped in NYC

Manhattan prosecutors announced on Thursday that they would not pursue a retrial of Harvey Weinstein on a remaining rape charge, bringing an end to the criminal case that helped ignite the global MeToo movement.

Jessica Mann, who accused Weinstein of raping her in a New York hotel room in 2013 when she was 27, told the district attorney she could not endure the trauma of a fourth trial.

Weinstein is already serving a prison sentence for other sex offense convictions and will remain behind bars.

Prosecutors have separately recommended a 20-year sentence in connection with his prior sexual assault conviction.
