Louisiana mass shooting kills 8

The Shreveport community is in mourning following the deadliest mass shooting in the United States in over two years.

Authorities identified the gunman as 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, who allegedly targeted his own family at two separate residences.

The victims, ranging in age from 3 to 11, included seven of Elkins' children and a nephew.

Elkins, who had a history of mental health struggles and a previous weapons conviction, was apprehended after a brief manhunt.
