ICE electric‑shock gloves spark controversy

The proposed ‘zap gloves’ would allow ICE agents to administer a painful electric pulse as a compliance tool, a measure ICE says could reduce dangerous physical confrontations.

Critics, including members of Congress and civil‑rights organizations, argue the technology could be misused and exacerbate already‑high tensions between immigration officials and migrant communities.

The rollout is pending final approval from the Department of Homeland Security.
