Israel Destroys Hezbollah Tunnel, Despite Deal

Israel destroyed a 200-metre-long Hezbollah tunnel in southern Lebanon, despite a trilateral framework agreement signed days earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced, saying the U.S. was informed ahead of the strike.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker and Hezbollah ally Nabih Berri rejected the deal, calling it an agreement of 'dictates' that does not preserve Lebanon's rights, and vowed to confront it politically.

Hezbollah asserted its right to self-defence after multiple Israeli strikes in the south, further weakening the fragile ceasefire.

The Israeli military said the tunnel contained hundreds of weapons, and the operation was necessary to neutralize an imminent threat.
