Antisemitism royal commission begins

The Australian Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion has commenced public hearings in Sydney.

The inquiry was established following the December mass shooting at a Hanukkah festival near Bondi Beach.

Witnesses, including the daughter of victim Reuven Morrison, testified that hatred against the Jewish community has become increasingly overt and dangerous.

The commission will investigate the factors contributing to the surge in hostility and recommend policy changes to improve social cohesion.
