China launches Shenzhou 23 mission

The Shenzhou 23 spacecraft successfully launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, marking a pivotal step in China's ambitious lunar and orbital goals.

The crew of three astronauts has docked with the Tiangong space station, where one member is scheduled to remain for a full year to study the effects of long-term microgravity.

A significant highlight of the mission is the participation of Lai Ka-ying, the first astronaut from Hong Kong, who has become a national role model.
