UK Heatwave Set to Continue

The UK's prolonged heatwave is set to continue through the weekend, with the Met Office forecasting further dry and warm weather and a fourth heatwave expected to arrive next week.

Network Rail issued a week-long ban on steam trains amid wildfire fears, while fire crews battled two major moorland blazes at Dovestone and Swineshaw.

The RAC estimated that 14.1 million motorists will make journeys for holidays or day trips between Friday and Sunday, the second highest since it began tracking the data in 2016.

Emergency services issued urgent warnings after people were seen lighting barbecues near the Dovestone fire, as temperatures are expected to cool slightly before the next wave of hot weather arrives.
