Hantavirus aid airdropped to island

A specialist British Army team has successfully completed a high-risk parachute mission to the remote island of Tristan da Cunha to deliver emergency medical supplies.

The operation was launched following a suspected hantavirus case on the island, which is one of the most isolated inhabited places on Earth.

This mission represents the first time the UK military has utilized such tactics for a public health emergency in the South Atlantic.

The supplies included diagnostic kits and antiviral treatments intended to contain any potential outbreak before it can spread among the island's vulnerable population.
