Azzi Fudd goes No. 1

The Dallas Wings have selected UConn star Azzi Fudd as the number one overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft.

Fudd, who signed a record-breaking $500,000 rookie contract under the league's new collective bargaining agreement, will be reunited with former teammate Paige Bueckers.

The draft highlighted the rapid financial growth of the WNBA, with top picks now earning significantly more than in previous years.

Other major selections included Kiki Rice to the Toronto Tempo and Flau'jae Johnson, who was traded to the Seattle Storm shortly after being drafted by the Golden State Valkyries.

The 2026 season is expected to be a landmark year for the league as it expands its reach and viewership.
