Sudan war enters fourth year

As the civil war in Sudan enters its fourth year, the United Nations has warned that the country is facing the world's largest humanitarian crisis.

Nearly 700 civilians have been reported killed in drone strikes since the start of 2024, with millions more displaced and facing famine.

A top UN official has criticized the 'bloody unacceptable' lack of global urgency in addressing the conflict, which has been overshadowed by other regional wars.

Efforts to broker a ceasefire have so far failed, as both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces continue to receive foreign backing.

Humanitarian aid deliveries remain severely restricted, leaving half of the country's community kitchens closed.
