Typhoon Bavi Swamps Eastern China

Typhoon Bavi, the most powerful storm to make landfall in mainland China this year, has caused severe flooding across the country's eastern coast, with dramatic video footage showing vehicles being washed away in Hebei province.

The extreme weather event has forced the closure of schools and tourist sites across multiple regions as emergency services work to rescue stranded residents.

Although the storm fizzled out over inland China, its tail end is projected to bring heavy rain to South Korea on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The disruption comes during a wider deadly monsoon season that has caused fatalities and mass displacement across Asia.
