Trump orders naval blockade of Iran

The United States military has officially begun enforcing a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz following the failure of high-stakes peace talks between Vice President JD Vance and Iranian officials in Islamabad.

President Donald Trump announced that any Iranian 'fast-attack' ships approaching the blockade zone would be immediately eliminated, significantly escalating tensions in a conflict that has already disrupted global energy supplies.

The blockade targets all vessels doing business with Iran, while U.S. Central Command has stated that traffic to non-Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf will technically be permitted.

International allies, including the United Kingdom and France, have distanced themselves from the operation, opting instead to focus on diplomatic efforts to restore freedom of navigation.
