Israel and Lebanon hold talks

In a historic diplomatic development, representatives from Israel and Lebanon have convened at the U.S. State Department for high-level negotiations.

Hosted by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the talks represent the first face-to-face meeting between the two nations since 1993.

The primary objective is to de-escalate the ongoing war between Israel and Hezbollah, which has caused widespread displacement and casualties across southern Lebanon.

However, the prospects for a breakthrough remain fragile as Hezbollah has already announced it will not abide by any agreements reached during the Washington summit.
