Spain Wildfires Scorch 50,000 Hectares

The La Mierla wildfire in central Spain has prompted the evacuation of 16 villages, with no casualties reported so far.

Firefighters are battling the blazes amid hot, dry conditions, as the country’s wildfire toll for the year approaches 50,000 hectares.

Earlier this month, one of Spain’s deadliest wildfires broke out in the south.

Authorities have deployed hundreds of personnel and aircraft to contain the flames.
