Nigeria Air Strike Kills Civilians

Tragedy has struck northeastern Nigeria after military planes bombed a popular market in Jilli village while pursuing Islamist militants.

Local residents and rights groups report that at least 100 people, including children, were killed in the strike, with some estimates reaching as high as 200.

The Nigerian Air Force initially claimed to have hit a 'terrorist enclave' but has since launched an internal probe following reports of mass civilian casualties.

The incident has drawn international condemnation and highlights the ongoing risks to non-combatants in the decade-long insurgency against Boko Haram.
