Canal killer John Sweeney dies in prison

John Sweeney, the notorious 'Canal Killer' who called himself the 'Scalp Hunter,' died of cancer in prison at 69.

He was given a whole-life tariff in 2011 for the murders of former girlfriends Paula Fields and Melissa Halstead, whose bodies were found in canals.

Sweeney never revealed the location of his victims' heads, leaving families without closure.

His death ends one of the UK's most disturbing serial killer cases.
