Turkey school shooting injures 16

A violent rampage has left students and teachers wounded in the Siverek district of Sanliurfa province.

The attacker reportedly fired randomly at everyone in his path, causing some pupils to jump from windows in a desperate attempt to escape.

Special security forces were deployed to evacuate the building and cornered the assailant before he turned the weapon on himself.

While school shootings are exceptionally rare in Turkey, the incident has prompted a national conversation about security protocols and the mental health of former students.
