Arcadia Mayor Pleads Guilty

Eileen Wang, the former mayor of the Southern California city of Arcadia, has pleaded guilty in federal court to acting as an unregistered agent for the People's Republic of China.

Wang admitted to using her official position to promote Beijing's interests and spread pro-China propaganda within the local community.

The investigation revealed that she had received direction from Chinese intelligence officials to influence local political discourse and monitor dissidents.

Residents of the affluent suburb have expressed shock and concern over the breach of trust, as federal authorities warn of increasing foreign influence operations targeting local government officials.
