Belfast-Dublin rail investment

The Irish and UK governments have signed a £550 million cross-border deal to transform the rail service between Belfast and Dublin.

The investment will fund a new fleet of high-speed trains aimed at reducing journey times to under two hours.

The project will increase the frequency of services to up to 16 per day in each direction, providing a more reliable and comfortable experience for commuters.

Officials stated that the upgraded infrastructure is a key part of post-Brexit efforts to strengthen economic ties between Northern Ireland and the Republic.

The new Stadler-built trains are expected to enter service by 2028, featuring modern amenities and improved accessibility.
