Louisiana Shooting Kills Eight Children

Tragedy struck a Shreveport neighborhood early Sunday morning when a gunman opened fire across two separate homes, claiming the lives of seven of his own children and a cousin.

The victims, ranging in age from 3 to 11, were identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office following the deadliest mass shooting in the US in over two years.

Two women were also wounded in the attack before the suspect, Shamar Elkins, was fatally shot by law enforcement.

Local officials have called for increased mental health support as the community grapples with the scale of the massacre.
