Andy Burnham Rolls Out Cost-of-Living Measures as PM

New British Prime Minister Andy Burnham introduced a series of cost-of-living payments for pensioners and households as one of his first acts in office.

The measures included a cost-of-living bonus aimed at easing the strain on millions of low-income families.

Burnham also faced criticism over homelessness and driving bans, while his government approved continued US access to British military bases for operations against Iran.

The announcements came as Burnham hailed his successor as Greater Manchester mayor, Bev Craig, as the “queen of the north”.
