Marcus Osmond Smart is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most versatile defenders of his generation, he has been selected to the NBA All-Defensive First Team three times and was the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, becoming only the second point guard after Gary Payton to win the award. Smart played college basketball for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
