Police in Pakistan say nine people have been killed and more than two dozen others wounded when a bomb rigged to a rickshaw exploded in a bazaar.

The attack took place on Tuesday in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan.

A local police chief said that two traffic police officers and a woman were among those killed.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing.

But suspicion is likely to fall on the Pakistani Taliban known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP. The group is separate from but allied with Afghanistan’s Taliban government and has intensified its campaign against Pakistani security forces in recent years.
