NHL and NHLPA express concerns over potential NCAA five-year eligibility limit
The NHL and NHL Players' Association expressed concerns about the potential NCAA eligibility change that would give athletes five years of eligibility from their high school graduation or 19th birthday, whichever comes first.
Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said the league is not in favor of the move.
Union assistant executive director Ron Hainsey fears it is something would negatively affect the entire ecosystem.
Hockey is different than other high school-to-college sports like basketball, baseball and football because players are often older after first spending time at the junior level or at a prep school.
