Gun suspect killed after opening fire at a White House security checkpoint near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC. Secret Service officers returned fire after authorities said the suspect pulled a weapon from a bag and began shooting at the checkpoint.
ABC News reporter Selina Wang captured the dramatic moment gunshots were heard near the White House while she was filming from the North Lawn.
Journalists were told to run to the press briefing room as Secret Service officers responded to the incident.
The suspect later died in hospital, while a bystander was also injured.
No Secret Service personnel were hurt and President Donald Trump was not impacted by the shooting.
