White House gunman identified

Law enforcement officials have identified Nasire Best, a 21-year-old from Dundalk, Maryland, as the gunman killed by Secret Service agents outside the White House.

Best reportedly suffered from a history of mental health issues and had prior encounters with security, including an incident where he blocked an entry lane last year.

A bystander remains in serious but stable condition after being struck by gunfire during the exchange at the checkpoint.

President Trump was inside the White House at the time of the shooting but was never in direct danger.
