Muslim pilgrims converge on Arafat as Hajj reaches its peak

Muslim pilgrims have gathered on Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia for the second day of Hajj, considered the pinnacle of the annual pilgrimage.

On Tuesday, despite the sweltering heat, they engaged in intense prayers, seeking forgiveness, mercy, and blessings.

Many raised their hands in worship, often with tears streaming down their faces.

Hajj, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, is a once-in-a-lifetime requirement for Muslims who can afford it and are physically able to perform it.

This year, the pilgrimage occurs amid a tenuous ceasefire in the Iran war, adding uncertainty to the region.
