https://www.middleeasteye.net/countries/israel" target="_blank">Israel has continued to systematically flatten civilian buildings in southern https://www.middleeasteye.net/countries/lebanon" target="_blank">Lebanon during the ceasefire, according to a https://www.haaretz.co.il/news/politics/2026-04-19/ty-article/.premium/0000019d-a14f-d834-abbd-f9cf953a0000" target="_blank">report in Haaretz on Sunday. 



A 10-day pause in hostilities in Lebanon https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/thousands-return-south-lebanon-after-ceasefire-defying-israeli-warnings" target="_blank">began on Thursday last week. 



But since then, Israeli army commanders have told Haaretz that systematic destruction of civilian buildings in southern villages was continuing to take place. 



The commanders said civilian engineering tools had been brought into the area, including excavators, and were being operated by paid Israeli civilian contractors. 



Some of these contractors were receiving a daily wage, while others were paid based on the scope of work and the number of buildings they destroyed.
