Caitlin Clark selected as Indianapolis 500 grand marshal

WNBA All-Star Caitlin Clark has been named the grand marshal for this year’s Indianapolis 500 and will give the starting command at the sold-out race.

The Indiana Fever star has helped push women’s basketball to new heights in both the college and professional ranks, routinely attracting sellout crowds and prompting some opponents to move games to larger venues.

Her basketball schedule prevented her from previously participating in race week activities.

She will join a long list of celebrities who have given the starting command on Sunday.

Baseball stars Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez and award-winning singer Blake Shelton have been grand marshals in the past.
