Artemis II crew leave Earth's orbit on journey to the moon

Sky News Sky News —

The crew of Artemis II have exited Earth's orbit and are now heading to the moon.

The engines of their Orion capsule were fired up, allowing them to perform the manoeuvre to escape Earth's gravity.

The thrust from the rockets would have made a car accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds.

The crew are due to reach the moon on Monday for a brief flyby before heading back to Earth.
