The Liberal party swept three federal byelections overnight, granting it a majority in the House of Commons.
Liberal candidates were triumphant in the Ontario ridings of University—Rosedale and Scarborough Southwest, as well as the closely contested Quebec riding of Terrebonne on Monday.
This brings the number of MPs in the Liberal caucus to 174, which should allow the Carney Liberals to pass legislation without support from opposition parties.
Mackenzie Gray reports on the results of Monday’s byelections and what they mean for the dynamic in the House moving forward.
