Israeli and Lebanese military officials have met in Washington for peace talks, according to the Pentagon.
Meanwhile, fighting on the ground escalates as Israel expands its operations in southern Lebanon, issuing new evacuation orders and carrying out airstrikes despite a US-brokered ceasefire.
More than one million people have been displaced, with towns and infrastructure heavily damaged and the humanitarian situation worsening.
