Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) repeatedly pressed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday on his statements early in the Iran war that the country's military had been "destroyed" and "made combat ineffective," and that the U.S. had "achieved every single objective" and won a "historic and overwhelming victory."
"Describe to me a country that doesn't have an air force, navy or defense industrial base, and I will describe to you a country that does not have an effective military," Secretary Hegseth replied. "It can lob missiles, got it.
Lob missiles, but it's not a combat-effective military."
