People uprooted by the war in Lebanon began returning through heavy traffic to Beirut’s southern suburbs, checking whether their homes were still standing, though some did not plan to stay for fear that a 10-day ceasefire in the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel could prove fragile.
The ceasefire does not demand Israel withdraw troops occupying parts of the south, where Israel's defense minister said Israeli troops would continue to demolish homes he claimed were being used by Hezbollah.
