Russia has announced a temporary Easter ceasefire from Saturday afternoon to the end of Easter Sunday, with President Vladimir Putin ordering troops to observe it while remaining ready to prevent provocations.
The Kremlin describes the pause as humanitarian and says longer-term peace could follow if President Volodymyr Zelenskyy takes ‘appropriate’ decisions, including on Donbas.
Al Jazeera’s Yulia Shapovalova reports from Moscow.
