China has announced it will resume some ties with Taiwan including direct flights and imports of aquaculture products.
The Taiwan Work Office under China's Communist Party issued a statement Sunday saying it would explore communication with Taiwan’s Kuomingtang Party.
This follows a meeting between Kuomingtang leader Cheng Li-wun and China's President Xi Jinping.
Relations have been tense since 2016 when Taiwan elected Tsai Ing-wen.
China cut off most official dialogue and imposed bans on imports including Taiwanese pineapples and seafood.
Taiwan's Ministry of Agriculture says it plans to help farmers diversify into overseas markets.
