Clarence B. Jones, cspeechwriter for MLK, dies at 95

Clarence B. Jones has died.

He was a former speechwriter and confidante of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who helped pen his famous “I Have A Dream” speech.

According to a statement released by the family, Jones died Friday at a senior living community in the San Francisco Bay Area suburb of Cupertino.

As a personal attorney to the civil rights icon, Jones was heavily involved in some of the key moments of the Civil Rights Movement up until King’s assassination in 1968.

He is the focus of a documentary produced by NBA star Stephen Curry out later this year.

He is survived by his five children and longtime partner.
