Bank Holiday Monday was a record breaking weather day, the Met Office has revealed.
Forecasters have said it was the hottest UK day in May on record, with the mercury rising to a sweltering 34.8C - over 94F - at Kew Gardens in south west London.
That temperature also made it the hottest UK Bank Holiday on record.
Wales recorded its hottest day in May on record - with 32.2C recorded at Hawarden.
The Met Office also said a UK record for the highest daily minimum temperature for May was set overnight as the temperature did not fall below 21.3C overnight at Kenley Airfield, south London, making it a 'tropical night'.
