UK Youth Joblessness Crisis

Alan Milburn's interim report on youth employment has highlighted a growing crisis in the United Kingdom, with over one million young people currently not in education, employment, or training (NEETs).

The review rejects the 'lazy' stereotype of a 'snowflake generation,' instead blaming a lack of entry-level opportunities and joined-up policy making.

Milburn warns that without radical reform, the number of jobless youth will continue to rise, creating a permanent underclass.

In response, the government has pledged 300,000 new work experience and training placements with major national employers.
