Monaco bombing: 3 injured in wealthy enclave after parcel bomb explodes

Global News Global News — 2min

A wealthy enclave of Monaco was rocked by an alleged parcel bomb late Monday night, leading to a cross-border manhunt in France – where the suspected bomber is believed to have fled to, on foot.

Authorities say the suspect left the homemade explosive in front of an apartment building shortly before three people arrived at the ground floor.

Those three people, including a Ukrainian-born oligarch with ties to Russia, were injured after the bomb exploded.

Though emergency services successfully rushed the victims to a hospital in Nice, two remain in “a state described as absolute emergency,” Monaco prosecutor Stephane Thibault revealed in a Tuesday update.

Thibault added that while the “flagrant” incident does not currently qualify as a “terrorist” attack, he is in contact with the French anti-terrorism public prosecutor.
